Our accommodation prices have been updated from 1 October 2026. These updated prices apply to bookings made on or after this date. If you booked before 1 October 2026, your existing booking will remain at the previous price, regardless of your stay date.

Whimbrel – Bedroom has 2 single beds plus a fold-down settee in the adjoining lounge area.
Sandpiper – Bedroom has 4 bunk beds plus a fold-down settee in the adjoining lounge area.
Bunk Dormitories
Our bunkrooms offer simple, affordable accommodation and are particularly suited to groups, families, birdwatchers and visitors travelling on a budget.

What to Bring
- All rooms have comfortable mattresses and covers, pillows and pillow-slips.
- You need to bring your own bedding, although if you are travelling light bedding can be hired for $5.00 per person.
- You need to bring your own food. Kaiaua, seven kilometres north of the centre, has a small shop for groceries, a gas station, an excellent fish and chip shop and a hotel which serves excellent pub fare. The nearest supermarket is in Thames – a 30 minute drive from the centre.
Exclusive Use
- Bunkrooms can be booked for exclusive use outside of key events and our busy season. Please ask when booking.
- Members: $75 / night for up to 3 members
- Non-members: $120 / night for up to 3 non-member

As a community facility our rooms are available for hire.
We have meeting room options, a full kitchen and bathroom facilities.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much is membership?
Membership can be purchased through our shop. Depending on the length of your stay, you may find that the accommodation discount covers the cost of your membership in just a night or two — while also supporting our conservation mahi / work.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes, we have free Wi-Fi available here.
What are Check-in and Check-out times?
Check-in is available from 3pm but often can be organised earlier. We have space for your gear and food if you are here earlier and want to go out to watch the birds. Check-out is 10am on your departure date.
Do you allow pets?
No. As a conservation organisation located alongside a wildlife reserve, we are unable to accommodate pets. Endangered and protected wildlife can be found nesting and feeding in the area, so we ask that dogs and other pets are not brought onto the property.
