You can stay at the Shorebird Centre comfortably and inexpensively, either in a self-contained unit or a bunk dormitory. In doing so, you help support us.

Self Contained Units
Self contained rooms have ensuites and fully equipped kitchens.
Tariff (member): $90 for two people, $20 each additional person.
Tariff (non member): $135 for two people, $35 each additional person.
Whimbrel – Bedroom has 2 single beds plus a fold-down settee in the adjoining lounge area.
Sandpiper – Bedroom has 4 bunk beds plus a fold-down settee in the adjoining lounge area.
We have 2 x six bunk, and 1 x four bunk rooms. There are shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. A spacious lounge and deck overlooks our own wetland and has excellent views of the Coromandel Ranges.
Tariff (member): $20 per person.
Tariff (non member): $35 per person.
What to Bring
- All rooms have comfortable mattresses and covers, pillows and pillow-slips.
- You need to bring your own bedding, although if you are travelling light bedding can be hired for $5.00 per person.
- You need to bring your own food. Kaiaua, seven kilometres north of the centre, has a small shop for groceries, a gas station, an excellent fish and chip shop and a hotel which serves good pub fare. The nearest supermarket is in Thames – a 30 minute drive from the centre.
